Divorce and family law clients search Google when they are facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. A spouse who has decided to leave the marriage, a parent fighting for custody of their children, or a victim of domestic violence seeking a protective order — all of them turn to Google for a lawyer they can trust.
"Divorce attorney near me," "child custody lawyer [city]," and "family law attorney [city]" are searches that happen thousands of times every day in every metro area. Family law attorneys who rank on Google Maps with strong reviews and practice-area-specific content consistently attract the most motivated, self-referred clients.

Family law reviews require particular thoughtfulness. Clients may be reluctant to discuss case details publicly, but they are willing to describe the attorney's responsiveness, empathy, and effectiveness.
When to ask: After final resolution of a case, when the client has had time to process the outcome and is moving forward positively.
What to say: "We are so glad we were able to support you through this. You don't need to mention any case details — just sharing your experience working with our firm would mean a great deal to us. It could help another family find the right lawyer."
📊 Flento Data: Family law firms with 30+ Google reviews attract 2.8x more self-referred new client consultations per month than those with fewer than 10 reviews.
🔥 Quick Win: Use Flento to automate post-case review requests, with careful timing to allow 4 to 6 weeks after final case resolution.
Essential pages:
Uncontested divorce page is a high-opportunity page. Many separating couples search specifically for uncontested or low-cost divorce options. A clear, practical page explaining this process and your fees attracts motivated, qualified clients.
Family law clients frequently research attorney fees before their first consultation. A fee transparency page reduces anxiety and pre-qualifies clients.

Generic homepage only. "We handle family law matters" does not rank for "divorce attorney [city]" or "child custody [city]." Build dedicated pages for each major practice area.
No uncontested divorce page. This is one of the most searched family law queries, driven by couples seeking a simpler, lower-cost process. If you offer uncontested divorce, a dedicated page is essential.
No fee information. Cost is the first question every prospective family law client asks. Addressing it transparently on your website reduces friction and pre-qualifies callers.
Avvo profile incomplete. Family law clients use Avvo more than almost any other practice area. An unclaimed or minimal Avvo profile is a significant missed opportunity.
People navigating divorce, custody disputes, and family crises are searching for guidance right now. The attorney who shows up on Google Maps with compassionate content, strong reviews, and a clear process for their specific situation earns the consultation call.
