In many US markets this is the least contested traffic available, and it stays that way because most tools never surface the queries. Here is what handles Spanish properly and what to check first.

There are US markets where a third or more of local searches happen in Spanish, and a great many businesses serving those markets have no Spanish presence at all. Not because they decided against it, but because their tools do not surface Spanish queries, so the demand is invisible to them.
That is a tooling problem before it is a marketing one, and it is why this opportunity stays open in markets where English competition is fierce.
This guide covers which tools handle Spanish-language local search, what you need beyond translation, and how to work out whether the demand exists in your area.

Check Spanish-language search volume in your market before investing, because it varies enormously by area and the answer determines everything else.
Do not assume, and do not assume it is absent either.
How to check:
Search Console rarely shows the full picture because you cannot rank for queries you have no content for. Absence of Spanish queries in your data is not evidence of absence of demand.
🛠️ Action Step: Search your main service in Spanish plus your city, in an incognito window. If the results are thin or irrelevant, that is an open market.
Confirm that any tool supports Spanish keyword tracking and Spanish-language review analysis, because many default to English and silently omit the rest.
Questions worth asking:
Review handling is the common gap. A tool that categorises or analyses reviews only in English will misread or ignore your Spanish ones, which is worse than not analysing them at all.
⚠️ Common Mistake: Assuming a tool handles Spanish because it is available in Spanish. Interface language and query-tracking capability are entirely different things.
The capabilities that matter for Spanish-language local search are bilingual keyword tracking, multilingual review management, profile language attributes and translated page tracking.
1. Spanish keyword tracking. Tracking the actual Spanish terms customers use, not translations of your English list.
2. Multilingual review management. Collecting, reading and responding to Spanish reviews properly.
3. Language attributes on the profile. Telling customers, and Google, that you serve Spanish speakers.
4. Separate tracking for translated pages. So you can see whether the Spanish pages work.
5. Competitor visibility in Spanish. Which is usually a much thinner field.
💡 Pro Tip: Track Spanish terms separately rather than as a subset. Blending them hides both the opportunity and the results, which is exactly why most businesses never notice the gap.
Translate your highest-intent pages properly rather than machine-translating the whole site, because badly translated content damages trust with the audience you are trying to reach.
Spanish speakers can tell immediately, and a poor translation signals that you do not really serve them.
How to do it:
The phone point is the one that undoes everything else. Attracting Spanish-speaking customers to a business where nobody can serve them produces poor reviews and wasted effort.

Q: How do I know whether Spanish-language demand exists in my market? A: Search your main service in Spanish plus your city and see how thin the results are, and check census data for your service area. Search Console will not show demand for queries you have no content for.
Q: Do local SEO tools track Spanish keywords? A: Some do, many do not, and interface language is not the same as query-tracking capability. Confirm explicitly before purchasing, particularly for review handling.
Q: Should I machine-translate my whole website? A: No. Poor translation is immediately obvious and signals that you do not genuinely serve the audience. Translate your highest-intent pages properly with a human translator instead.
Q: What is the most important step for a bilingual market? A: Ensuring someone who answers the phone speaks Spanish. Attracting customers you cannot then serve produces poor reviews and wastes the entire effort.
Q: Does the languages-spoken attribute actually help? A: It is the clearest signal available to both customers and Google, it takes two minutes, and a great many businesses with bilingual staff have never set it.
Q: Why is Spanish-language local search less competitive? A: Because most businesses never see the demand. Their tools default to English, so the queries never appear in their data and the opportunity stays invisible.
In a lot of US markets this is the least contested traffic available, and it stays that way because the tools most businesses use will not show it to them.
Check whether the demand exists. Track Spanish terms as a separate set so you can actually see it. Translate your best pages properly rather than all of them badly.
