Engaged couples spend months researching wedding vendors before booking a single one. Corporate event organizers search for planners when they have confirmed budget and a deadline. Both groups start on Google. "Wedding planner [city]," "event coordinator near me," and "corporate event planner [city]" are searched thousands of times every month in every major metro area.
Event planners and wedding coordinators who rank on Google Maps with strong reviews and an extensive portfolio consistently win the inquiries. This guide covers the complete local SEO strategy for event planning businesses to rank locally and attract their ideal clients.

Wedding planner reviews that describe a stress-free experience, a planner who "thought of everything," and the perfect execution of a couple's vision are incredibly powerful trust signals for couples in the research phase.
When to ask: The week after the wedding when couples are back from their honeymoon and still in the glow of the day.
What to say: "Congratulations again on a perfect wedding day! If you have a moment to share your experience in a Google review, it would mean the world to us. You could help other couples find their perfect planner."
📊 Flento Data: Wedding planners with 25+ Google reviews book 3x more consultations per month than those with fewer than 10 reviews, particularly in competitive metro markets where couples have many options.
🔥 Quick Win: Use Flento to automate post-wedding review requests timed to 7 days after the event date. Couples contacted at this point are at peak positive memory and leave detailed, emotion-rich reviews that convert future clients.

Essential pages:
Day-of coordination gets special attention: This is one of the most searched wedding planner services because it is the most accessible price point. Many couples hire a day-of coordinator even if they cannot afford full planning. A dedicated page for this service can rank with moderate competition and convert well.
Your portfolio is doing the selling before the consultation happens. Couples who arrive at your consultation having seen your work and loved it are already 80% converted.
Portfolio best practices:
General directories:
Wedding and event directories:
The Knot and WeddingWire are non-negotiable. If you are not listed there as a wedding planner, you are invisible to a significant portion of your potential client base.
Blog content ideas:
Articles that feature local venues in [City] are especially powerful because they attract venue-specific searches and establish you as the local expert.
Monitor monthly:
🔥 Quick Win: Use Flento to track your Google Maps ranking across your metro area. Wedding planners often serve a 50-mile radius — knowing exactly where you rank tells you which markets to target with additional content and citations.
No day-of coordination page. This is the highest-volume, most searched wedding planner service. If you offer it but do not have a dedicated page, you miss a huge segment of the market.
No portfolio on the website. Event planning is a trust purchase. Couples who cannot see your work are not booking a consultation. Add your portfolio today.
Not listed on The Knot or WeddingWire. These directories drive the majority of wedding vendor discovery in the US. An unlisted planner is invisible to most engaged couples.
No venue-specific content. Writing about local venues attracts couples who have already chosen a venue and are now searching for a coordinator who knows it.
Couples and corporate clients are searching for planners right now. Show up on Google Maps, demonstrate your work through a strong portfolio, and build reviews that tell the story of your best events. That is what fills your calendar.
